Chicken Paprika
Ingredients
- ¼ cup Butter (#180140)
- 1 Large Onion, sliced into rings (#340090)
- 1 Chicken, 3 ½ lbs (#260460)
- 1 ½ tsp Paprika (#450419)
- 1 Green Pepper, seeded and sliced into rings (#360250)
- 1 Tomato (#340095)
- ¼ lb Fresh Mushrooms (#340400)
- ½ cup Sour Cream (#180100)
- Salt to taste (#110600)
Directions
- In a heavy bottomed saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Add onion and sauté until translucent (about five minutes).
- Remove pan from heat. Sprinkle chicken with salt and add to pan with paprika, half of the green pepper and half of the tomato.
- Cover the pan with a tight-fitting lid and cook over very low heat until the chicken is tender (1 to 1 ½ hours).
- During last 15 minutes of cooking, add mushrooms.
- Place pan over medium heat and cook juices, scraping bottom of pan to loosen any burnt bits. Add a spoonful of water to achieve a gravy-like consistency, then stir in sour cream. Pour over chicken and garnish with remaining green pepper and tomato.
